I was looking forward to this, having tasted a semifreddo at Babbo. And it's great to have more dessert options perfect for summer, where there's no hot oven needed.
I bought my ingredients at Trader Joe's, and it was only when I began to get things ready to make the recipe that I realised I'd forgotten to get some tangerines or oranges. Whoops. So, I substituted brewed coffee for the juice, powdered instant espresso for the zest, and Kahluah for the Amaretto. It worked beautifully. I didn't have the time to make the sauce, so instead simply drizzled some Kahluah over the top of the slices.
It was wonderful--cold, creamy, not too sweet, deep chocolate without being overpowering. A definite make-again treat. I'd love to figure out how to get some raspberry or cherry flavor in; or perhaps ginger.

Amy - the coffee is a great idea. Do try making the sauce sometime it was actually quick to make and seems to store well - great for fruit or ice cream. YUM
