Well, remember my NTOTHDD (No Trip on the Horizon Depressive Disorder)?
It seems that we will be getting to Europe this year, for at least a short visit!
Some of the kids from my older son's bike club are joining a small group doing an Amsterdam to Paris bike trip, and Dan was interested in joining them. We looked at our frequent flyer account, and realised that we have enough for three coach tickets. So--We're flying into Amsterdam on July 27th! After a mad weekend of searching and e-mails, I have booked an apartment for us in the Jordaan neighborhood. http://www.vrbo.com/70512
We'll have a few days in Amsterdam, which I'm looking forward to. We then hand Dan over to the trip folks, and Larry and I will take the train to Paris for six days. Still looking for an apartment, although I've found a cute place out in the 14th I may take if nothing else comes up. http://www.vrbo.com/127079
We fly home on the 7th, have ten days at home, and then head out to Seattle for The Dreaded Cruise with the MIL.
I figure, Paris is compensation. Even with only small amounts of bread and cheese. I think I'll be visiting the salad guy at the market more than last time!

Excellent! That is so cool - and so soon! So no depression for you! Have a great time and tell us all about it.

Wow, that's wonderful Amy! I've never seen Amsterdam and it sounds so interesting....and the apartment you've booked there looks fantastic. A solarium, wireless, two floors, lots of light, fantastic!
The Paris apartment looks very nice, too and not too far out. So long as it has AC!

Yay, Amy!
Trust me, you'll be walking enough in Paris to burn off any excess cheese (and/or wine ;) ) intake. I came home 2 lbs. lighter last year!
