Where Would I Live?

Copy%20of%20IMG_3033.JPG

One of the little games I play when traveling is "Where Would I Live?" With just two days in LA I couldn't make any judgements about location, but I certainly could about type of dwelling. I love places where there's some definite "type" of architecture, and LA is chock full of it. I adored the Craftsman-style houses and the little Spanish Revival cottages from the early part of the century; and the more modern apartment buildings from the 20's and 30's are pretty cool. Some day I'd love to return for some sort of architectural tour of LA.

These are some houses, Amy.

Great photos of various architectures. I definately could live in that first house.

When I saw your first picture, I thought, hey, they did get out here to Pasadena - we will definitely have to do the "house" tour of the LA area on your next trip. Your last picture reminds me of the mid-town house my grandparents lived in when they moved from New York in the early 50's. While we live in a semi-Craftsman today, both David and I grew up in post war ranch type houses on different sides of this city. This is a great town for house styles.

I like the first house and the third and fouth houses the best, but I would repaint the pink house.

I love the pink house (and wouldn't repaint it!). They are all very nice.

Palma:

Great house photos. As an adult, I have always lived in "new houses" where I was the first owner. Some of those oldies are real charmers! We do NOT have neighborhoods like that in the desert, except for some of the old Palm Springs flat top modern gems.

Great photos, Amy! An architectural tour sounds like a great idea! Can I come too?
