This post was inspired by sandrac, who was in turn inspired by CBC Radio's Saturday morning show GO!
Here are four songs that make me switch off the dial with a shudder:
(As opposed to songs which I admit are awful, but listen to anyway)
4. The Last Kiss, most recently covered by Pearl Jam.
3. Tie A Yellow Ribbon, by Tony Orlando & Dawn
2. Sealed With a Kiss, by Bobby Vinton.
1. Muskrat Love, by Captain and Tennille
I can only say Ewwwwwwww
(And of course Barry Manilow's entire discography could be a list of its own.)
And finally, I have one honourable mention. This song cracks me up, but it surely has some of the lamest lyrics ever!
Flushed From The Bathroom Of Your Heart
(from the album At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash, although he did not write the song)
From the backdoor of your life you swept me out dear
In the bread line of your dreams I lost my place
At the table of your love I got the brush off
At the Indianapolis of your heart I lost the race
I've been washed down the sink of your conscience
In the theater of your love I lost my part
And now you say you've got me out of your conscience
I've been flushed from the bathroom of your heart
In the garbage disposal of you dreams I've been ground up dear
On the river of your plans I'm up the creek
Up the elevator of your future I've been shafted
On the calendar of your events I'm last week
I've been washed down the sink of your conscience
In the theater of your love I lost my part
And now you say you've got me out of your conscience
I've been flushed from the bathroom of your heart

Oh yes, Muskrat Love! I'd forgotten about that one.
I had to laugh on Sandra's post when you confessed that you used to like "The Last Farewell" - I did too! Haven't heard that song in years.
