I love the photo! Your beautiful daughter looks so serene lighting the candle. I'm so glad that you posted this photo. The theme fits perfectly with your previous post on Prayers for Myanmar. Thanks, Anne.

Thanks Maria - it is a great visual accompaniment to the prayer, isn't it? I must have been divinely inspired to post it :)

Hi Anne:
That's a really nice photo. Like Maria, I also think there is something very serene and also comforting about lighting a candle in church. And to do it one of Italy's beautiful churches is an amazing feeling to me.
I remember when I lit a candle in the Duomo in Florence, I was moved to tears.
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful experience.

Beautiful photo. Ditto with all comments above! Is this the church you attend?

girasoli - no, but I'd like to attend this one more often (because that would mean I'd be in Florence!) And actually, we're not even Catholic - MN and I just loved lighting votive candles throughout our travels. We don't have that tradition in our church, although we have an annual Celebration of Lights when we dedicate lights on the tree in memory of loved ones.

Oh that is just gorgeous! When I took the boys to Italy when they were very young, they liked to light the church candles.
When we went last September, there was Alessandro, so much older, so much taller... lighting candles in all of the churches again.
I remember one on Torcello - wow! I've been to Torcello with Alessandro! God has been good to me. :)
