I grabbed a Simon & Garfunkle CD on my way out the door this morning, and sang along to their gorgeous harmonies while driving into work. So many wonderful tunes, but one in particular sang to me today - I played it three times in a row in the car and was still humming it walking into my building (people give me weird looks about that sometimes...oh well!) I have loved this song since I was a little girl (grew up listening to my mom's and Aunt Phyllis's S & G albums - their music is in my blood, I think!) This really fits my mood this morning. In spite of grey, drizzly skies, my soul is soaring and my heart is singing Life, I love you, all is groovy!! ♥ I don't even know why I am flying so high today, maybe because Dave is supposed to get home this evening (although he's only been away since Monday morning), maybe because I am so excited that our visit to Newfoundland is only a month away...whatever the reason, I embrace this joyful mood and want to share it! :)
I found this wonderfully goofy video on youtube...don't these two guys look like they are having a blast? I celebrate their childish delight! I so want to go outside and skip around in the grass right now! :)
The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)Slow down, you move too fast
You've got to make the morning last
Just kickin' down the cobble stones
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy...
(Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy)Hello, lamp post, whatcha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing
Ain't ya got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in doo-doo, feelin' groovy...
(Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy)Got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you, all is groovy!
(Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy)
A tidbit of trivia as an added bonus...
The 59th Street Bridge is the Queensboro Bridge in New York City. According to a June 1 article in the online NY Daily News, the bridge turned 100 years old last week:
"The Queensboro Bridge, often overshadowed by its famous downriver sibling, the Brooklyn Bridge, was feted with parades, fireworks and heaps of praise from dignitaries on its 100th birthday. It won rare praise as an engineering marvel that helped open up Queens to the rest of the city."
Groovy!

Wonderful! That is what I intend doing in just a few short weeks! Newfoundland awaits my friend but instead of skipping through the grass perhaps we will skip through the waters!

Valerie, I knew you would love this video :) Skipping through water sounds great, can't wait to let our inner children run free in Newfoundland!

This is a great video! Like you, I can't wait to be on vacation so I can do a little more skipping of my own. Haven't had time to do as much of that lately as I would like to. Soon though...

Ah yes, Lynn, you will be soon skipping through the English countryside, won't you! In the meantime, you'll have to be content with roaring around on the motorbike ;)

girasoli, it is such a fun song. I remember getting such a kick out of singing it as a little girl. This video totally captures the essence of the song, I think! :)

Kathy, I always say the world needs more skipping! It's utterly impossible to be in a bad mood while skipping. I highly recommend it :)

Great song!
When I am driving, I love to listen to Eagles songs or Beach Boys. They are usually happy songs, so it makes the driving a little more pleasant.

I agree Nancy, driving's much more fun with happy tunes playing in your ear!
