Gratitude Friday...community

It's been a long day and a long draining week...I am still grateful for so many things. The renewed light in my beautiful Sara's eye, the wondrous glories of Creation I see around me every day, the uplifting and soul-filling strains of music that fill my ears, the affectionate purr and "chatter" of my big boy cat Winston, the comfort of Dave's arms, the way the Spirit occasionally graces my writing so that it touches and lifts someone's heart, seeing my best friend's face light up when we meet, seeing my sister filled with laughter and contentment in the company of her new boyfriend, and the laughter on the lips of my daughter M, my niece and their friends this evening at Lynn's party.

I am also grateful for the amazing communities to which I belong.

The intimate community of my family, in whose arms I feel the strength, courage and power that comes from being unconditionally loved. The community of people who fill my life, my heart, my soul.

The caring and fun community of folks with whom I am blessed to spend my working days. It is wonderful being able to come in to work each morning looking forward to seeing these friends.

My larger faith community with whom I joyfully worship, and who come together to support one another in so many ways. I am grateful to be a part of this church family, to contribute in ways such as knitting prayer shawls and adding my voice to choir. I am especially grateful that I am often able to join the ecumenical choir for funeral services. It is a great honour and privilege to lift the hearts of grieving families through song.

My blogging community, through which I have made some wonderful connections. In spite of never having met my blog friends in person (except for dear Maria!), I feel like I know many of them quite well. I am grateful for their warmth and caring through some rough patches, and grateful that my own blog has bytimes given them strength in return. Links to my favourite blogs are on my sidebar, blogs through which I have been inspired, amused, entertained and enlightened. Thanks my friends!

Found this image online when I googled community...I love it:

Barb Cabot:

Lovely words and image. My heart is filled with gratitude for friends like you who choose to see the joy and blessings in life.

Anne:

Barb, it was actually you who inspired this post! Was thinking about you and how wonderful it is that we have connected through our blogs. And that got me thinking how blessed I am to belong to so many amazing communities. (Although I didn't get into the larger global communities like country, etc since the possibilities are endless and it was late when I finally had a chance to write my Friday entry!)

Great thoughts - it is amazing how our communities have grown in geography with the internet. I too get immense pleasure from the many new communities I have joined over the last few years.

Hi Anne, this is a very beautiful post. I love the photo too. You are so fortunate to have so many wonderful things to be grateful for in your life.

I am also very grateful to have found your blog and this wonderful blogging community to learn from and to draw inspiration from.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Anne:

Thanks Jerry, you're so right about communities growing in geography. It really expands my horizons to belong to these larger communities.

Kathy, I'm glad to have found your blog too, I love reading about your experiences, and sharing in the stories of your life! :)

Beautiful post, Anne. There's so much to be grateful and we are all so blessed to find support not only in our families but in our friends and faith.

I'm grateful to be part of this wonderful ST family and for the wonderful three days we shared in Venice. {hugs}

Yes, our little blogging community is wonderful, and you are such a good blog friend! Sometimes I forget that we haven't actually met in real life. (Sorry for being a bad blogger lately, by the way!)

Anne:

Thanks Maria, what wonderful memories I have of our visit in Venice! Family, friends and faith are such incredible blessings...they lift us up when we are down, and just take us higher when we're already flying :)

So true, Chiocciola, it does seem strange that we've not met in person. (No worries on the blogging, first comes life, then comes internet!)

Love this post. Great photo too!! I am also so grateful to our blogging community. It is such a part of my life. It is strange that although many of us have not met, we really do know quite a bit about each other. Sometimes more than people we see and work with every day!

Anne:

thanks girasoli, it's a really wonderful community. It would be fun to go to the annual ST GTG and meet people in person...I can't swing it this year, but someday I'd like to go.
