Inspired by Candi's recent post Guess Where in the World, I decided to post a few mystery photos of my own! And, like Candi, I'll start off with an easy one too...this image popped immediately into my mind after reading the comments on her photos of Siena.
So...do you know where and what this building is? (Bonus points if you can also identify the statue that is partially shown in the bottom of the photo!)

from the loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza Singoria, the rape of the Sabines. What do I win?

These are fun. At quick glance I thought it was the Torre again but from a different angle. The statue gave it away.
It is the Palazzo Vecchio in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence. The statue is the Rape of the Sabine Women.

Woohoo, we have a winner!! Make that 2 winners...the comments came almost at the same time so I'll declare this one a tie.
Sad to say, all you *win* is my thanks for playing along! ;) (I think I'll do a book giveaway sometime this month though, so stay tuned for a real prize opportunity!)

Oooh, I knew this one, although I forgot the name of the sculpture. It is amazing how the structure of Palazzo Vecchio is similar to Palazzo Pubblico in Siena.

I'd recognize the Palazzo Vecchio anywhere. I love the way the Medici reproduced it in many other Tuscan hill towns.

I do love quizzes, even tho I screwed up terribly on Candi's! So, I'll apply my answer from her quiz to your's, Anne. (Although I wouldn't have remembered the name of the sculpture, good for Angie and Marta!)

Yup--and this one I knew too...not having a memory cramp as I did with Candi's. This is fun!

Well, I am obviously late. I knew it was Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria in Florence but did not know the statue. Fun post!
