A sweet little shrine in Dorsoduro. This one is in campo San Basegio, not far from the Zattere. I love the purple stone framing this shrine.
There used to be a church in this campo - San Basilio, a 9th century church dedicated to St. Basil. It's gone (demolished in 1824) but the shrine remains.

That is lovely. I wonder if the purple stone is some type of marble?

Anne, I think so but I'm not positive. There are so many beautiful pieces of stone in that city!
Kathy, I'm ready to go back to Venice too! You have a great weekend too and thanks!

Just beautiful. Like Kathy, I just want to go to Venice! I remember living in Bologna and being able to jump on the slow train to Venice (in 2003 it was 7,90 to get to Venice) and walk around. Now I want to return for a tour of Venice with AnnieNC!

Chiocciola, that sounds like a song....Slow Train to Venice. And what a blast that would be to have a Slow Trav bloggers GTG there!
It was funny but my friend who went with me in 2006 got a little sick of churches after a while. :) I'd park her at a wine bar and go in by myself (which was fine!).

Haha, I guess we all have our "special interests" that our friends can get tired of!
