Archangel Michael and the Dragon

Continuing with the dragon theme, here's a mosaic in Basilica di San Marco. This one has a loop in his tail too but not a double spiral like the dragon-snake.

Hey Girasoli, yes I took it without a flash and didn't think it would come out, but it did. When you go upstairs to the Museo and look out over the balcony towards the downstairs of the Basilica, this mosaic is to the right. I don't think you can see it that well from downstairs but you are right next to it when you go upstairs.

I missed this mosaic when I was in San Marco 2 years ago -- clearly, a good reason to return (even if I have to wait until 2010 and our big GTG in Venice!)
