Corte 11 Settembre 2001

I stumbled across this corte when I was wandering around Burano. It's very touching that they chose to remember 9/11 this way.

It's a quiet little corte and no one was around except for a cute little tabby cat.

Sometimes happening on something that evokes a lot of emotion is quite awe-inspiring - for me at least. Thanks for sharing.

Kathy (Trekcapri):

Hi Annie, that is a very touching remembrance gesture. I loved the colorful buildings on Burano. And what a sweet tabby.

Thank you so much for continuing to share your wonderful discoveries on Burano. Have a great evening.

Catherine Kovesi:

This Courtyard was named in Remembrance of 9/11 because of the relics of Santa Barbara on Burano. She is the patron saint of firefighters. So the courtyard is in memory of the firefighters who lost their lives in 9/11. In 2008 the Buranese sent the relics of St Barbara to New York to take part in the commemoration ceremonies.

Thank you, Catherine! I'm happy to learn about Santa Barbara and this corte.
