This week's PhotoHunt theme is "Natural."
I love to visit the Magic Wings Butterfly House at the NC Museum of Life and Science. It's a large conservatory that recreates the natural habitat of various tropical flora and fauna. It's especially fun to visit in the winter because it's toasty warm in there, and it's nice to see so much green when everything outside is brown. Here are a few shots from a recent visit:
Not sure what kind of butterfly this is, but he was very cooperative about posing~
This very cool plant is called a Chenille or Red Hot Cat's Tail. It's native to New Guinea and Maylaysia~
This is a malachite butterfly hanging upside-down. These are native to South America. What a beautiful creature!
Gattina of Keyhole Pictures hosts a Photohunt each week; a list of upcoming themes is here.
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!

Hi Annie, wow these are all really beautiful photos and perfect for this week's theme.
My sis is here visiting for Christmas and I showed her your PH photos. She loves your first photo a lot. The colors are so vibrant. I really like the colors and design on the upside down butterfly too. And that's such a cool name for the unique looking plant in the middle photo.
I'm a little late posting mine cuz I've been out sick with a bad case of bronchitis. But I'm almost done. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Annie --
So... you're going with Gattina's Photo Hunt? In any case, am glad I visited and checked out your entry -- not least because I too think butterflies are lovely. :)

Your butterfly pictures are gorgeous ! really special, they are so beautiful.
If you want to continue with me, please change the logo (it's on my blog) and my theme is called "Saturday's photo hunting" I just wanted that the meme continues. There is also another "Photo Hunt". I will see for a while how it goes, if it doesn't, I stop and join Sandi's photo Hunt. The most important is that the meme continues !

Hmm - I was confused for a minute - thought the theme of the week was 'joy' and then realized that there was a second photo hunt on the go. who knew? LOL
Gorgeous shots of the butterflies! I stil remember the brilliant ones we saw when we were at the new Academy of Sciences in SF.
