PhotoHunt: Sculpture

An interesting modern sculpture in Venice. Its title is Il Vento e Il Sole (The Wind and the Sun), and the artist is Italian sculptor, Matteo Lo Greco.

Il Vento e Il Sole

This sculpture is right beside the church of San Fantin in sestiere San Marco.

A few more sculptures in the window of a gallery near the same church~

The most renowned outdoor sculpture in Venice is the 15th century Renaissance equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni in the campo in front of the church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo (the large brick building to the right) and
the Scuola Grande di San Marco (the white marble building which is now the hospital).

The sculpture's pedestal is a popular place for the pigeons to hang out~

Those are some great statues. I really like the modern one at the top it invokes imagery of the sky I think :)

Love the atmosphere: a deserted Venice on a rainy day with the wind and the sun! Thanks for posting

Mar:

Love your choices and the pigeons' hang out -although I am not fond of them when they are dirty in my terrace :)
Happy weekend

Great sculptures. I like all of them and the modern one struck me in particular. Happy Weekend

Hi Annie, I love the name of the modern piece in your first photo. The collection in your second photo looks very cool. Awh, pigeons always seem to know the best places to hang out. :)

Lovely photos and they make me miss Venice.

Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great weekend!

YTSL:

The title of The Wind and the Sun gets me thinking of the story involving the two of them competing to see which one is more powerful... but the sculpture doesn't fit that story, I don't think!

wonderful sculptures. i've always enjoyed your photos from Venice. brings back wonderful memories of my trip a years ago.

Like the statue in the window (3rd picture) sure look like one could write a fantasy story.

Thanks for stopping by and coffee is on

I like the modern sculpture, it's very special !
