This week's PhotoHunter topic is...Hope!
![]()
This is me, hoping I will make it safely to the beach on my first boogie board ride in the gentle waters of Kailua, Oahu!
I did make it to shore, I didn't drown...but I did crack three ribs towards the end of the afternoon, when a large wave rolled me under and slammed my ribcage into the butt-end of my boogie board, which was nose-down into the sand on the bottom of the ocean.
Cracked a few teeth, in the process.
Speaking of cracked, my dentist cracked up when I told him how I did it!

My granddarling's hopeful wish list while in Paris this past summer...she wished she could have this, wished she could buy that...so she wrote it all down, marking each item off her list as she made her purchases! She did find all that she was hoping for, and more!

My favorite photo from Paris...this gives me hope every time I look at it...

Hope is the Thing with Feathers
~ Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea,
Yet never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Thank you so much, Nancy!
I can hardly wait to get together in Savannah again! I was talking with Leslie today and we were finalizing some of the plans, so it is becoming real! REAL!
The best part?
The house where we are all staying, with that glorious living area and sun-porch for everyone who is staying wherever to meet us there and hang out together. THAT will be so cool.
See you soon, Nancy!
Ciao,
Brenda

Were you boogie boarding as Sandy's? It sounds like you had quite a wipe out! Cool choices. Especially love the sign.

Happy weekend!

Susan,
I was boogie boarding on the beach in front of Dune Circle, along Kalaheo Avenue in Kailua. I love that area of the beach, so I go there whenever I'm in Kailua. A friend lives in Dune Circle and kindly gave me the code for the entry door. ;-)
What a day that was! My girlfriend is an excellent swimmer, she's about 5' 10" and strong, so she made sure I was safe boogie boarding for the first time. At least she did, until that rogue wave turfed me off the board and smacked me down underneath the water.
The saving grace for me was that I wasn't in water too deep for me, and I managed to get myself out of the water and onto my beach mat. Scary! BUT, I did it!!!

Jerry, Anne, Sandi, Maria,
Thank you!
I also love that sign in Paris. I have never been able to find it again, so I think it was up for a short time and then...gone.
Too bad, because it felt like a small miracle when I spotted it.
Happy New Year!
May your lives be filled with millions of small miracles this year!

Thanks, Sandra...
It took a bit of courage for sure! I'm not that fond of water over my head, so Kelly had to do a lot of convincing before I'd even give it a try. The surf in this area is 3 - 5 ft. waves, with alternating waves that are 1 - 3 ft.
So it wasn't too bad, once I realized that I wouldn't go under and be in over my head.
Still....a little scary for me, but hey! I did it!
