American Idol...

Do you watch American Idol?
I do, faithfully!

Why?
'Cause I really LIKE this show!
People with all the balls in the world, standing up in front of the viewing public and laying it all on the floor...I admire their courage and their guts. I wouldn't do it, I can promise you that!

Oh, I know there are the looney-tuners who dress in weird clothes and can't sing a note to save their souls. But, every few singers, there's a David Cook or a Jennifer Hudson that stands out from the rest of 'em. There will be another Jordin Sparks or Carrie Underwood...someone with the chops to take it to the finish line and win the whole enchilada.

This year, I'm watching the cuts taking place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, seeing some really great kids with really exceptional talent working their way through the group rounds and, like cream on a quart of fresh farm milk, rising to the top of the bottle.

Watch out, y'all!
Here comes Adam Lambert, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kai Kalama.
Following hot on their heels are Lil Rounds, Michael Sarver and Michael Castro. Yep, that would be another Castro brother...Michael's brother, Jason, was in until the late cuts last year!

There are some amazing kids singing their hearts out this year, and the judges are going to be working hard to get this group narrowed down to the top 20! I don't envy Simon, Paula, Randy and the newest addition to the judges' panel, Kara DioGuardi.
It's going to be a fantastic show again this year!

“If I said to most of the people who auditioned, 'Good job, awesome, well done,' it would have made me actually look and feel ridiculous. It's quite obvious most of the people who turned up for this audition were hopeless.” ~ Simon Cowell

Here's my pick to win this year...Danny Gokey!

Brenda,
I like American Idol too, even though I don't watch very often. I have to look your "guy" up, I don't think I remember him.

Kathy (Trekcapri):

Yahoooooo! Another AI fan! Hi Brenda, I love this post and when AnnieNC sees it she will love it too. We both follow AI faithfully and love recapping the shows. Danny is totally one of my favorites. I also like Anoop a lot especially cuz he's from NC! And I like Laneshe too and the emotional favorite has to be Rose. I really hope they make it all the way. You know, I actually think Micahel sings better than Jason. It's going to be a great season!

Tonight is the Group Cuts which is going to be intense from what I saw in the previews. They didn't do group last year which I liked. It always seemed unfair to me if someone in the group isn't doing their fair share. But hopefully the judges will rate them all individually. I can't wait for tonight's show!

Hi Brenda, Kathy (Trekcapri) and I both watch AI and usually end up having some discussions on her blog each week.

I'm pulling for Anoop since he's from North Carolina and attends my alma mater. I think the talent looks very good this year!

sandi @ the whistlestop cafe:

This is the CRAZY hollywood week...I'm ready to get to the real talent!

Candi,
He is the guy who just lost his wife a few weeks ago and can sing like a songbird. Amazingly husky, rough edge to his voice...you'll love him!

Kathy and Annie,
What a disastrous night! I'm amazed at how easily some of the contestants fall apart, disintegrate totally.

I'm still sticking with my guy Danny Gokey!
And, I also love Michael Sarver and Adam Lambert. Both made it through, as well.

Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds...where were they tonight? I missed them in the midst of the chaos and hormonal raging that was going on!

Sandi,
I totally agree...crazy is right. Tonight was so weird!
Looking forward to the real thing, after all of the drama has been sent home.

Anoop was only shown briefly last night. They were focusing more on the drama and less on the talent!

I was sorry to see Rose go.

Thanks for letting me know, Annie...I thought I'd missed seeing him. It's so interesting to see who has the maturity and who falls through the cracks. Some of these kids are rock-solid!
I loved Jason Castro's la-la-la attitude last season! He made me laugh every night he was on.
