Today, I received an e-mail from my dear friend, Barb, giving me this fantastic award for my blog!
Barb's blog, Follow My Bliss, is one of my favorite places to go for a warm and serene moment of bliss in my otherwise hectic life.
This is the first blog award I've ever received, so it means a lot to me...she likes me, she really likes me! Sally Field would be proud.
Barb has asked me to list seven things I like and then she wants me to nominate seven other bloggers for this award. That should be a cakewalk! There are so many fantastic blogs out there.
I wish I could nominate all twenty four of the blogs I read regularly. But, alas! Only seven.
Here's the lovely award that Barb bestowed on my blog today...
Now, seven things I like:
I like my children and my grandchildren.
There's nothing sweeter than hearing their voices on the phone or at my front door.
Today, while I was soaking in a bubble-filled jetted tub, my daughter stopped by to say "Hi!" I didn't hear her ringing the doorbell, so I missed seeing her beautiful face and spending some time visiting. I was really disappointed!
I like my daughter, Mylene, and my son, Michael, so much that I call it love, actually.
I like and love and adore my grandchildren, Shonelle, Tristan, Taryn, Keiran and Bryden.
I even like them enough to ask each of them to name one of the five buildings in my condo project.
I love them enough to ask them to travel with me and I like them enough at the end of the trip to consider asking them again.
I like my friends.
They come in all shapes and sizes.
Some are tall and angular, while others are short and soft around the edges.
They come in all nationalities.
Every country is represented, from Greece to England, from France to Ireland.
They speak all kinds of languages.
Some speak French, others speak English. A few speak Greek and Arabic. Others speak Cree and one friend speaks Inuktituk. A whole family of friends speak Dutch.
I like my friends, and what's more amazing is that they seem to like me!
I like pie.
Too much, I think.
Any kind except mincemeat.
I like apple, raisin, sour cream raisin, pumpkin, pumpkin custard, blueberry, cherry, lemon meringue, Key Lime, custard, Flapper, peach, peach and passionfruit, apricot custard, rhubarb, rhubarb and strawberry, raspberry, chocolate cream, coconut cream, banana cream, butterscotch, pecan...any kind except mincemeat.
I like weekends.
Days to myself to sleep in, to go for a long walk, in whatever weather is present each day, to enjoy the simple pleasure of feeling the fresh air on my face.
Days to eat what I want and when I am hungry, to nap in the afternoon and stay up way too late at night
Days to call my own.
I like homey, cozy things that make me feel safe and comforted.
Wood fires on a cold winter evening, with hot chocolate, marshmallows and chocolate chip cookies.
Cinnamon toast made with liquid honey and cinnamon sprinkled on top, with a fresh pot of tea.
Flannel 'jammies, fleece sheets.
The smell of homemade bread.
Wool blankets to snuggle under when it's cold outside.
Freshly-made, still-warm chocolate cake with brown sugar icing melting into the cracks and crevasses.
My favorite leather slippers over top of my favorite wool socks.
The moment when I tip over the edge from being awake to falling asleep.
I like adventure.
Things that scare me make me challenge them to conquer that fear.
I have a fear of heights, so I took flying lessons when I was 41.
Learned how to perform aerobatics and loved it.
Graduated from a class of fifteen...fourteen men and me.
Received the top mark in my flight test and the second highest mark overall in the province of Alberta for that year.
Missed winning the major provincial award by a single point.
Lost to a wet-behind-the-ears 18 year old cadet.
Not happy about that. At all.
I have a fear of deep water so I took swimming lessons for 4 years in a row.
I only wished to get to a point where I actually liked being in the water and really enjoyed swimming.
I'm scared to death of snakes.
Not going to challenge that one.
I like to travel.
So far, I've been to all but 2 provinces in Canada and I've visited 4 states in the U.S.
I've been to France, Italy and England. Several times.
I have plans to travel to Ireland and Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Holland.
I have no plans to travel to any place without running water, good showers and air conditioning.
