It is no secret that I don't like winter. However, I love the fall. We were lucky enough to spend the first part of last fall(until October 3rd) in Connecticut, where the fall foliage is just stunning. And it would have been even more stunning if we would have seen it in October.
When we left New Haven in the first week of October, we went to Edwards, Colorado(just outside of Vail), where my in laws have purchased a new home just a few days prior to us getting there, so we went to visit and check out their new home. Well,it was gorgeous, nestled in the mountains, with great views of the ranges......and the beautiful fall yellow aspens.
Naturally, when I see mountains I think hiking, but I also think horses. Luckily, there were some stables just down the road from my in-laws house, and they offered riding in the White mountains. So we signed up, and took off the next morning on a four-hour trail ride up in the mountains.
The scenery was just spectacular, with yellow aspens, mixed in with the evergreen pine trees, and the snow on top of the mountains in the horizon....now there is another season that I would not mind extending.

Gorgeous! I have never been a big fan of fall, because in Norway, fall really means dark, rainy, windy, cold weather. Here in DC it is a lot better!
