My life has never really been very stable. As a kid, my parents could not decide for the lives of them where to live. They are both Palestinian born, but they found their lives in the US when my dad was eighteen years old, many years ago. But I guess a part of them was missing something, so they kept on trying to find it by moving the family back to Palestine, deciding nah, we can't make it here, lets move back to Michigan. Well, the process of self discovery took three or four times of moving back and fourth, between Palestine ( for a year), then back to Michigan(for couple years). The process left us kids....well...confused, but this is another story for another time.
As an adult, I started traveling for my job after I decided that I would hate my job,if I didn't travel. And it had been an absolute delight, mixing up work with what I like to do the most: travel.
During my very first travel assignment to Maui few years back, I met my husband Bill. I like to think it was meant to be. Having Bill in my life made it so much better and much more enjoyable. We started out as friends on Maui, we started dating in Morgantwon, WV, continued dating in Albuquerque, NM, Boise, ID, and Maui(again), got married in Florence, SC, honeymooned in Italy, lived in New Haven,CT and Spokane,WA so far and more travel to come, which makes the only stable in my life: Bill.

Moving around so much,as a kid and as an adult, I have made many friendships(I treasure them all), but most, if not all, are long distance friendships, which are great, but leave you missing that face face conversations.During the process of dating and marrying my husband, he has become my best friend, and such a wonderful friend he is.
So here is a dedication to all the friends I have made,to all the friends I will make, and to the one friend I pray to always have...with all my love.
"A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere. Before him I may think aloud."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hi Candi, it's so cool how you and your husband both enjoy the same passion in travel. I enjoyed reading about your family background and about your friendships especially the one with your husband. You lived in so many different places.
Lovely post! Thanks so much for sharing.

Candi, isn't it a blessing to share such a wonderful friendship. I too have a dear friend in my husband so can really relate to this entry! I am reminded of a quote by Aristotle: “What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”

Love your story, what a lucky husband you have.
Morgantown!! me too. I never went to Palestine but we moved 9 times by the time I was 12. So... I feel like a vagabond, thus the name of my blog.

Barb, thank you for your kind words.
Anne, I love this saying. I think it is true.
Angie, I did not like all the moving as a kid, especially with the culture clashes and stuff, but as an adult I love it. So you lived in Morgantwon, WV? How cool! I actually liked it a lot, isn't beautiful? With all the hills and pretty scenes.
Sandra, my header photo is of Florence, taken from the top of the duomo on a beautiful summer day.

What a wonderful story! Is your husband from Hawaii? Did he start moving with you or was it a long distance romance.
I am really enjoying your blog and can't wait to learn more about you and the places you have been.

It is amazing the impact those childhood 'flips' have had on your life. I on the other hand stayed put almost all of my childhood . . . yet I don't have any desire to stay put in my adult life. LOL

Jerry,
Thanks for stopping by. I know, one would think that I should want to be put, but I really don't.
