In my life, my favorite part of the job is quitting...
Since we do contract work in three-month intervals, we change locations very frequently. Quitting a job in one place and looking for a new job in a new place is my very favorite part, and the reason I still do what I do.
The excitement of researching possibilities of places to go, then researching things to do and see in these places and the anticipation of where we'll be living, and what our surroundings will be like, and who we'll meet is beyond words... but going back to a place you've been and loved, can be just as exciting.
We got contacted recently with our housing information on Maui, our next place to live and love starting February 16th. We have been there twice before together. We know the island very well, we know the lab(our workplace), we know our co-workers, we have favorite places to eat and beaches to hang out, we do not need our GPS there, and we are psyched with excitement.
Maui means a lot to us, not just because we are going there from cold Spokane, but also it is where me and Bill met, and where Bill proposed,on top of Haleakala watching the sunrise. We love the island and the people, we even tolerate our jobs there. And we just got contacted by our agency that we will be living here..
My favorite part?

View from our Lanai!
We stayed in Maalaea last time, and loved it, It is very central, close commute to work, close to west Maui(Lahaina and beyond) , close to south Maui(Kihei and beyond). and close to upcountry Maui... all places we love to visit, and will visit and I'll be blogging about.
Until I get there , I will be dreaming of having my breakfast on our lanai, smelling the ocean, listening to the waves rolling , and watching whales breaching!

Sounds awesome! I think I would enjoy that lifestyle a lot (except for the constant packing, maybe?) I love getting to know new places and feeling at home there. Kind of like some really extended Slow Travel!

It's a dreamy existence you lead. I love Hawaii too and love to think of the fragrance of Plumeria and the way the air feels after a mid day rain. I'm happy for you, it's a lovely place to call home.

It really is a fascinating lifestyle; I'm enjoying reading about it. So I guess you rent furnished places and don't have to haul furniture from place to place? And do you have to move every three months or can you sometimes double up?
How wonderful that you'll be back in Hawaii soon!

I'm green with envy ...
(off topic: you asked how I wrote the Arabic word for Fès. I found it in Wikipedia and copied it. )

Chiocciola and Barb, I can't wait to get to Maui.
Annie, I guess I should explain my job,ha? We are hired by an agency, that is hired by hospitals, so when we are ready to work,we contact our agency and they tell us what jobs(locations) they have, and we pick one. So then they present us to hospital, if they like us, it is a deal. Then the agency would take care of accommodation and things like that for us,we really only have to show up.
Maria, thanks for explaining that.

From someone who has lived a very rooted life, I think yours sounds exciting. And I love Maui, too, good luck on your new adventure.

I got such a laugh from the first sentence of your entry, too funny! Ok, that place sounds really cool, I think I could go for life in Hawaii. Be careful about making it sound too attractive, you'll have us all showing up on your doorstep.lol I'm already drooling over the place from reading girasoli's blog!

Candi-You're lucky-you'll soon be in warmth and sunshine. I just have to deal with the cold until we visit Maui for 10 days in April! Reading about your job/travel is interesting. I've met several traveling nurses up here in Alaska.

Cindy-which island/s are you visiting?

So interesting! I knew nurses could contract like this (my cousin's wife was one), I hadn't known that lab techs could do it as well. How fortunate that you are enjoying this experience together, and there's a welcoming market for your skills!

How exciting, Candi -- I'm so envious. I used to move every few years, but have been stalled for far too long in the same place.
Hawaii would be so beautiful!

Hi Candi, congrats on this exciting move back to Maui. And BTW, I have to say that your husband's proposal . . . very romantic!
Looks like your agency found a wonderful home for the both of you. I really wouldn't mind waking up every morning to that beautiful view. Don't forget to have them install DSL though so you can keep blogging!
Thanks for your sharing your great news! Have a great day tomorrow Candi!

Candi-We'll be on Maui. Staying in a condo in Waiala(I know that's not spelled correctly).
Candi replies: You will love Wailea! If you get bored(lol), maybe we can have a GTG.

Candi-I'll keep in touch. We're pretty low key when there on vacation-snorkeling at La Peruse Bay(I know that's not how you spell it, but I'm too lazy to go look it up)in the morning, hanging out at the beach during the day, then back to the condo. Maybe we can meet for dinner or drinks. I'll get in touch closer to that time.

What a beautiful view! Lucky you!! I was going to ask if that was a view of Lanai from your Lanai until I looked at it closer and realized it is Molokai. How long will you be in Maui?

I just stumbled upon your blog today. I'm a med tech in the final stages of taking a 6 month assignment at MMMC starting Sept 1st! It will be my first travel assignment after spending the last 5 years in the Northern Mariana Islands. My wife and I are very excited! Any tips about the hospital? mad_tech_mitch@yahoo.com
