Go Steelers!

I am writing this part of my blog before watching the actual game, so that I am not influenced or biased by the final score.

I am not much of an NFL fan, I don't really have a "team", I kind of just go with the flow or sometimes I have a reason for favoring one team over another. This year,I am going with the Steelers!

I remember watching the last Super Bowl they won in 2006, I was for them then too, just because the group I was with were Steelers fans,do you see how that goes? It was such a good game, and our team won!

Then few months later, I hear about the accident that Ben Roethlisberger ( the number one man of the Steelers) was in, and I just remember the fans worrying about him and praying for him, he was in a bad condition and was in surgery for hours(he was not wearing a helmet either, so that did not help), and I remember wondering then if he will ever be back.Well he was back even in the 2007 season, but this Super Bowl, is his first championship since his accident, hence, I am for the Steelers.

Okay, now I am off to watch the game, reflections to follow.

Wow, that was a good game! The second touchdown by Harrison was just incredible! The Cardinals were all the way near the finish line, then he ran 100 yards to score that touchdown, wow! They lost me a little in the third quarter, but then the last quarter, when the Cardinals scored the touchdown, I thought it was over, but I was wrong gladly, and the Steelers managed to score the last touchdown winning 27-23!

So, I don't just watch the game for football, normally it is for the party. This year however, we did not go to any parties, but Bill prepared some chips and dip, and shrimp cocktail and we had our own little party.

I also love the commercials, my favorites this year are the Budweiser commercials with the horses. The half time show was okay, I am not a fan of Bruce Springsteen. I absolutely loved the National Anthem sang by Jennifer Hudson, and caught the last bit of Faith Hill's song. I thought it was a great gesture to have the crew from US Airways flight 1549 introduced before the game, they are such heroes!

It was such an exciting game (and I'm not a football fan)! Glad your team won! I was very moved by Jennifer Hudson and that was one of the most beautiful National Anthem's ever.

I agree Annie, the National Anthem by Jennifer Hudson was so great. I was actually surprised to see her, as her sister was murdered couple months ago.

Kim:

I thought the half-time show rocked but then again, I'm a Jersey girl. Overall though, I thought it was a darn exciting game.

Hi Candi, I also thought that Jennifer Hudson sang the National Anthem really well, probably one of the best that I've heard. It's nice that your team won. I was actually pulling for the Cardinals because Maria lives there and I am a Kurt Warner fan. But the Steelers played a good game and deserved the win.

I enjoy the watching the Superbowl commericals too and I'd have to say that my favorite was also the one with the Budwieser horses. So cute!

Great Superbowl snacks! I love shrimp cocktails!

Barb Cabot:

Candi, I'm not into football but I love your little party for two! That's so cute. I'm gearing up for Oscar night now and planning a party of two like yours for that night.

I am not a huge football fan either. I took advantage of the ample parking and trafficless roads yesterday but did tape the opening ceremonies and the half-time show, both of which I thought were great. I was torn as to who I wanted to win. One of my roommates when I was in grad school at Colorado State was a huge Steelers fan, so for her I was thrilled, but I am also an underdog rooter and would have liked to see the Cardinals win.
