The theme for this week's photohunt is thankful.
As I sit here on a beautiful day, looking out at the Pacific, watching whale splashing, feeling the ocean breezes, and listening to the waves rolling over the rocky beaches, I can think of trillion things that I am thankful for.
Then thinking of the rough economic times our country is facing, and the high percentage of people loosing their jobs and homes, I can add another trillion things I am thankful for to my first list.
So, how can I sum it all up in one photo and one word?
Life.
I am thankful for my life, with all its joys and sorrows, all it ups and downs , all its dreams and realities, all its beauties and challenges, for without the sorrow, downs, realities, and challenges, one will never realize the joys, ups, dreams and beauties of life.
I am reminded of a quote about life from mother Teresa:
"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it."
— Mother Teresa
Now if I can just find the one photo that shows all this?

Can you see the double-rainbow?
According to Wikipedia:
Rainbows can be observed whenever there are water drops in the air and sunlight shining from behind a person at a low altitude angle (on the ground). The most spectacular rainbow displays happen when half of the sky is still dark with draining clouds and the observer is at a spot with clear sky in the direction of the Sun. The result is a luminous rainbow that contrasts with the darkened background.
So, rainbows are visible when there is a contrast:rain and sunshine, dark clouds and clear skies. Isn't this what makes life beautiful?
I am thankful for my life and everything and everyone in it.

That is a spectacular image. I especially like the fact that you were able to capture a double rainbow that includes both ends. Very nicely done.
My interpretation deals with life too, in a way, in that it is focused on family.

Beautiful photo and quote. Rainbows are one of the many magical things about Hawaii. I don't think I have ever seen just a single one here. I am so glad you are enjoying your time on Maui. I do hope you get a chance to come to Oahu so we can meet.

Great entry. Love what you wrote -- including the Mother Teresa quote (didn't know she could be so lyrical!) -- and the photo is amazingly wonderful icing on an already pretty good 'cake'. :)
