Twenty five random things about me..

I stole this idea from Jan. It looked like a good post for when I am on the road and unable to blog. So, when you get this, I will be on the plane, an early(yikes) flight from Portland to Lake City, SC for the weekend to visit my parents.

So, here it goes, twenty five random things about me:

1-I am the oldest among my siblings( two brothers and one sister).
2-I lived in Bethlehem, Palestine for a good portion of my childhood and teens.
3-I can speak, read and write Arabic.
4-All the moving above has left me with a funny accent.
5-I took German in school, and have been to different parts of Germany with organized school trips to practice the language. I don't think I remember much any more.

6-I am Greek Orthodox Christian, and absolutely love my church.
7-I like to cook, but I have hard time following recipes, so I tend to make stuff up a lot.
8- No one ever got hurt from my #7 actions.
9-I like yoga, but I have hard time practicing by myself, so I love taking yoga classes.
10-While living in Boise, ID for the month of November, I took a quilting class, I enjoyed it, and finished a wall hanging a year later while I lived in Spokane for the winter.
11-I love the outdoors. Hiking is just my thing.
12-We took a hot air balloon ride once in Albuquerque,NM. we loved it ,despite the rocky landing.
13-I wish I could say I love my job(being a med tech that is), I don't. I think it is okay, and I don't hate it, but I don't want to do it forever.
14-I have nothing in common with my mother, but I would not replace her for the world.
15-My dad(like most middle eastern men) had a liquor store,I had my very first job there at a very early age, stocking shelves and refrigerators.
16-I lived in Michigan until I graduated from college, then I followed my family to Florence, SC. Lived there for nine months, hated my job there, and started traveling.
17-I love sushi.
18-I have been to Germany, Britain, France, Switzerland, Holland and Sweden before I finally made it to Italy.
19-Italy is the only trip from above that I took full responsibility for planning.
20-I rather be in Italy right now.It is my absolute favorite country in the world I visited.
21- I fell in love with Rome, I dream about it everyday.

22-I love old stones, I love every thing ancient.
23-Mama Mia is one of my,if not the, favorite musical.
24-I love Frank Sinatra's music, and I love that Michael Buble does a good job following in Sianatra's footsteps.
25- Our song was/is All the Way, Frank Sinatra.

Very cool! A great way to get to know you. Maybe you could write sometime about growing up in Bethlehem?

I love Mamma Mia too, but to me, nothing beats Les Miserables!!

Kathy (Trekcapri):

Hi Candi, wow this is a great post and I enjoyed getting to know you better by reading it. I had read your comments on Maria's post that you can read Arabic. That is very cool.

Thanks so much for sharing a bit of yourself with us and have a smooth flight!

Fun to read. I love Frank Sinatra too. And interesting that you lived in SC. Even though I'm right above it, I haven't been many places in SC except for the beaches. I HAVE driven through South of the Border many times though!

Thanks for sharing parts of your life with us. Have fun visiting your family.

Marcia:

Welcome to the club of those of us who absolutely love Italy BUT have no ancestral ties to the country. Over at ST we're small, but strong.

Kim:

Great list! Safe travels.

sheri:

Thanks for sharing information about yourself. It is nice to learn more about people. I love that song by Frank Sinatra too!

nancyhol:

Like the others have said, it is great getting to know you this way!

My favorite Frank Sinatra song is "My Way".

I am the oldest also with 2 sisters/2 brothers. I also enjoy listening to Frank Sinatra. My dad always listened to him when I was growing up. Fun list. Nice to get to know you a little better.

sandrac:

Great post, Candi! And as Marcie says, welcome to club of Italy lovers (and I join you in your Rome obession!)

Anne:

Candi, thanks so much for posting this! How wonderful to learn all these things about you. I've been working on my list for a while but never get it finished! (Have been tagged on facebook, gotten lists by email and seen them on the blogs - figure I better get my own posted one of these days!)

And may I say Hooray to find a fellow Mamma Mia fan!! I got the DVD for Christmas, but while in the theatres, I went to it eight times ;)(http://www.slowtrav.com/blog/andasamo/2008/09/three_times_a_charmer_make_tha.html)

Candi, you're a very interesting person! I really enjoyed learning more about you.
