PhotoHunt: space

photohunter7iq.png

The theme for this week's photohunt is space.

To start with, I thought this should be an easy topic ,right? It is so open, I could just choose a space. My favorite space, perhaps? Then I got to thinking about it, and I realized, I love the ocean, the mountains, the ruins, and I often talk about these wonderful spaces.

I realized, however, that I haven't mentioned the desert. I love the desert plains, the deep earth colors, the small green shrubs, and the cactus. I loose myself and my imagination runs wild in the desert open spaces.

Below are couple photos taken while visiting Acoma Pueblo(Sky City), NM.

We immensely enjoyed living/working in Albuquerque, NM for six months in 2006. We got to explore some of my favorite sites in the country: Taos, Santa Fe, and Acoma.

One day, we took a drive from Santa Fe to Los Alamos, and continued through Bandelier National Park (one of my favorite parks)and Jemez Springs back to Albuquerque. The photo below was taken in that route.

Wow what stunning views! Happy weekend

Oh Candi, I love these photos! What beautiful natural spaces. This is a part of the country that I've never visited (and I've never seen the desert!). I need to get to NM soon, I think.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Wow, all those wide open spaces, these places look wonderful!

Happy weekend!

That's a beautiful shot and so perfect for space. I've never been to NM but have heard so many good things about it. I'd love to see that scenery first hand one day.

YTSL:

I spent a summer years ago during archaeology in the Southwest. What a wonderful, beautiful part of the world that is!

Eden:

Great shots. I visited Acoma and other Pueblos and was always captivated by the scenery and mostly by the culture.

6 months in NM sounds wonderful. I loved visiting Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I had a few opportunities when I ran the Native American Studies for my school district.

liz:

Those are fabulous views. Amazing scenery. I've never been in desert like that.

I have great memories of the time I spent in that neck of the woods (my friend was teaching in Zuni). Your pictures are great.

Candi, that picture says it all about "wide open space", doesn't it?

Kathy (Trekcapri):

Hi Candi, great photos and take on the theme. I had the same take! :)

I've never been to NM before and it looks very beautiful. Definitely a lot of lovely Space there!

Have a great weekend!

Great photos of open spaces. There is just something about the Southwest.

Now that is a wide open space!
I have a totally different take :-)

Love your photos! We had a similar idea about open spaces. :)

Note to Annie and anyone else who's never been to the SW desert: I have a very nice guest room, available to any ST member. ;)

Beautiful shots of New Mexico. It is the one 'western' state that we have not yet visited! Your shots really show the beauty of the 'space.

Lisa:

Very beautiful spaces. Enjoy your weekend.

For a while I drove past Shiprock a couple times a year, and always looked forward to seeing it.

I love these photos! I spent time in New Mexico once. I have a friend that lives there. I was struck by how open the space is in so much of New Mexico. It is a beautiful state. I don't think I could live there though as I would miss the ocean too much.
