PhotoHunt: stripes

photohunter7iq.png

The theme for this week's photohunt is stripes.

I decided to show off one of my unfinished/I hope I will ever finish, quilt projects.

Ribbons.JPG

This pattern for a wall hanging is called Ribbons, by Carol Doak. Lining up equal triangles of the same color horizontally makes a stripe, and rotating the many stripes makes ribbons.

I am a very beginner quilter, I do machine work(new to that too), rather than hand work, and that takes me long enough. I admire all hand quilters for their patience and determination. I don't think I'll ever be one. I seem to only quilt in the winter. I've worked on a few small projects, and enjoyed being able to finish them. I started this one in January, and I really want to finish it, not now though, there is plenty of sunshine outside:)

Wow! That is soooo beautiful! I am really impressed. Have you seen any of the handmade Hawaiian quilts? I love going in the local stores admiring them.

girasoli, I LOVE the Hawaiian quilts too,and go to local stores to check them out. They are beautifully handmade and involve a lot of work.

wow that is nice, for sure it takes time to do one piece

That's great. As if all the pieces are inter-threaded.

Lene:

Love the colors and the design. I'm impressed...it looks very complicated!

Have a nice weekend.

I absolutely love quilts. Since I live in an area that is rarely cold, I use quilts more for decor than for keeping warm. Yours is beautiful. Great stripes!

YTSL:

What with there being triangles and stripes, seems like you could have submitted this entry for next week's Photo Hunt too! :D

Barb Cabot:

Candi, It's really beautiful. The more you look at it the more you see with the patterns emerging. Quilts with their endless designs are so special.

Kathy (Trekcapri):

Hi Candi, very cool photo theme selection. Your quilt is very beautiful! I love the soft colors too.

Great choice Candi! Hope there's lots of sunshine for you this weekend and enjoy!

Gorgeous! You are a multi-talented woman, Candi! You do a lot of cool stuff.

Mojo:

Never considered that a stripe needn't run end-to-end to be a stripe.
Very clever.

Mira:

Very nice pattern, hope you finish it soon ;-). Here's my take http://www.mirasblog.com/2009/04/photo-hunt-12-stripes.html

Stopping in from photohunt! I just love handmade quilts. So beautiful. Love the pink

Eden:

Beautiful! I wish I knew how to quilt! Your work is lovely! It looks like it is (almost) done.

I quilted many years ago. Back in the day when I had the time and the space to spread out.
Beautiful (and very straight) stripes!

srp:

This is lovely... my grandmother hand quilted. She loved the cathedral window pattern. We have a variety of quilts that she made and they are some of my prized possessions.
Thanks for stopping by.

Your quilt is really pretty. Nice colors and pattern.

Your quilt is stunning! Love the different shades of pinks.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks all for your kind words.

YTSL,I haven't realized next week's theme is triangles, darn, I should have saved this one:)

Sandi, BIG THANK YOU for calling my stripes straight, lots of un-stitching and re-stitching had to happen to get there, and they are not all straight.

Beautiful quilt!

I love quilts and admire anyone who can create the intricate artwork. I love the ribbon/stripe design and the color. I hope you can finish it!

Thanks for visiting my photo hunt this week.

Great take on the theme. I was quilting some today, but there weren't any lines like these. I do crazy quilts.

We have so many quilts at our house. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, we haven't actually made any of them. Great photos for the week!

jam:

Nice quilt!
