Missing Italy: Positano

Rome is not the only place I miss in Italy. Okay, maybe I do miss Rome the most and it is always on my mind. But, Positano is another Italian town we have fond memories of.

We stayed in Positano for three days, at a wonderful B&B, Holiday House Gilda.Actually, the B&B is in Arienzo, with breathtaking views of Positano down below.

It was a wonderful stay at Holiday House Gilda; nice people, clean spacey rooms, private terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, good breakfast and direct access to Arienzo beach, smaller and less crowded than the main beach. All for about 50 euros a night.

Bill did the driving from Rome to Positano. The drive was not as hard as we have expected it to be, but was even more gorgeous than we ever imagined. Although, I would say, I thought the drive was scary at times, but hey, I wasn't driving and Bill did not complain.

Ah, Positano, another reason I love Italy!

I've never been to Positano but I know I'd love it. What beautiful photos! And wow, the price was right on your B&B. I love their sign. :)

Marcia:

We spent 5 days in Positano last summer, and thought it pretty magical - funny we chose not to drive, even tho we do our own Highway 1 with impunity, but I think David actually got to see things on this trip.

Gorgeous photos! Great find on the B&B. Do you need a car to stay there (to get places like Positano)? I did a daytrip to Amalfi & Positano back in 2000 and have had the Amalfi Coast on my list of definite places to return to soon.

Annie, I liked their sign too! It is so Positano:)

Marcia, I would not have driven myself, but I am a chicken when it comes to these things. Bill,on the other hand, enjoyed the drive very much, he said when we go again, he will still drive it.

girasoli, you don't need a car to get to Positano from the BB, it is a few minutes walk to town, and the bus stop is right in front of the BB,if you get tired of walking. For Amalfi, I am not sure, because we drove, however, if I remember correctly, local buses went there, so I imagine you could get to Amalfi without a car as well.

Beautiful shots! Really though - where DON'T we miss in Italy? *smile*

Very true, Jerry. Italy is very missable!

sandrac:

Candi, these are such beautiful photos. After about 10 trips to Italy, I still haven't seem the Amalfi coast or Positano! I really want to, especially after seeing these pix!

Your B+B sounds lovely and that price is incredible.

Gorgeous photos, especially the last one with the bougainvilleas in full bloom. I’ve been to the town of Amalfi but never made it to Positiano. I love the Sorrentine Peninsula and hope one day to return.

Sandra, I know exactly what you mean. There are so many places to go, and sights to see in Italy, and everyone of them is so beautiful and unique, and it is just so hard to figure out where to go. But whenever you make it to Positano, you will love it!

Maria, I hope to return there too. It is such a magical place in many ways.
