The theme for this week's photohunt is advertisement.
After a fantastic two week vacation in beautiful Thailand, I was hoping my first photohunt back will give me a chance to post one of the 1200+ photos we took there. Alas, my brain is having hard time working it, and I will(again) go to my beloved Italy for this week's photo.
Every year, couple weeks before Ash Wednesday, Venice is flooded with people from all over the world to participate in Carnevale di Venezia, The Carnival of Venice, where artistically decorated masks are the central feature. These masks can be found in many shops in Venice. How does a maskmaker distinguish his/her shop for others?
Smart advertisement!
One year, I would like to make it to Carnevale di Venezia, and maybe I'll buy my mask from the shop that made masks for the movie Eyes Wide Shut. :)
Happy weekend everyone!

A great advert for the mask maker! I love those bird beak masks. It's amazing to think that they were were used by doctors as a protection against plague. Happy weekend

I love Venetian masks. I remember going from one store to another looking for one I could afford since they are very expensive as well as beautiful.

Very clever indeed on the part of the advertiser -- and quite a cool claim to be able to make, isn't it? :)

When I saw your pics, I thought that the masks looked very familiar. Then I read the wordings and knew where I saw them from.

These remind me of the masks in Phantom of the Opera... a little scary. They would certainly be an effective way to hide out in the open. Mine is up here.
