A Thai elephant on all four again....

When Rick Sanchez shared this story on CNN today, I had to share it with you.
A great story of a 48 year-old female elephant, Motola, receiving an artificial leg after loosing her own ten years ago, stepping on a land mine.

Hi Candi, oooh what a very touching story. I think that it is so wonderful that they created this artificial leg for her. And poor thing took a while to put her weight on it. It would be cool if they can do a f/up story to see how she is adjusting to it.

I'm very surprsied that there are these mines out there and how unfortunate that the elephants are hurt by them.

Thanks for sharing this interesting and touching story with us.

Saw this last night on the news. Sweet story!

Anne:

The video says currently unavailable, so I haven't watched it yet. But wow, it's amazing to think an elephant can be fitted with an artificial leg! So cool!

Great story. I wonder just what she was thinking when she first started using her new prosthesis. I saw another story the other night about feet coverings for an elephant with some sort of foot disease. I think it is great that vets are helping elephants.
