The theme for this week's photohunt is artificial.
I was browsing my photos looking for a shot of artificial plants or flowers, when I stumbled upon our photos from our last Las Vegas trip three years ago, and there I found my idea for the artificial theme. I love Las Vegas, and really think that everyone should experience the magical Vegas strip at least once in their lifetime. And just to make a point here, I am not a gambler, and I never can get myself to spend more than few dollars on nickel slot machines, and normally do so to get a free drink:). But the elegance of the resorts, the chaos of the crowds, the elaborate designs, and ostentatious decorations give me something to gawk at where ever I turn. When I think artificial, I am thinking man-made things created to mimic a natural or already existing objects and scenes, and Las Vegas is just that;artificial beauty, but awesome nonetheless.

As an example, I am going to share photos of Las Vegas's Venice, as seen in the Venetian:Resort, Hotel and Casino. Opened in 1999, the Venetian is a beautiful representation of the Venice, with a "grand canal", gondolas, singing gondoliers, shops and restaurants. It is mini artificial Venice.

And here is how it compares to real Venice in case you were wondering:
Not bad, eh?
Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend everyone!

Perfect! I haven't been to Vegas yet and agree with you, I need to go there at least once in my life. And of course seeing the artificial Venice will crack me up!!!

Candi, this is a perfect idea for the theme of artificial. Fantastic photos too. I love how you compare the artificial and the real.
A friend of mine was talking to a couple businessmen while on a conference in Vegas a couple years ago. The men told her that they'd been to Venice, Italy and said there wasn't much difference between it and Las Vegas. Can you imagine not seeing a difference between man-made glitz and the real thing?

Great take on the theme. That is so funny to me that someone wouldn't see much of a difference between Venice and the artificial Vegas version. Great shots. Happy weekend.

Thanks all for the comments!
Anne, I don't know how one can't see the difference. I love the Venetian Hotel in Vegas, but the Venice is the real charming deal.

What a clever take on this weeks theme. I love Las Vegas though I am not a gambler either. It is such a strange phenomena to see all of this in the middle of a desert. Thanks Candi.

Hi Candi, great photos and take on this week's theme! I love the comparison photos too. Btw, I can do one better, whenever I find myself in Vegas, I play the penny slots. The real challenge, however, is trying to last long enough on the slots for my free drink to arrive. :)
And I also agree that everyone should experience the spectacle of Vegas at least once in their lifetime.
Have a great weekend!

Vegas is the perfect choice for this theme! Love your beautiful comparison photos.
I haven't been in Vegas in 12 years and would like to go to see the magnificent Chihuly ceiling at the Bellagio.
Have a fun weekend!

I love Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, but I know it's not really the Eiffel Tower sitting in front.
Great take on the theme, Candy!

You're right with both of "V" places - Vegas and Venice. I thought Venice was a place for cameras. So many beautiful and unusual sites.

You could have put the entire Vegas and it would clear the theme of artificial :D
Great take. I never thought of this route. Great job.

Very clever take on the theme this week! At first before realizing the last 3 photos were really of Venice, I couldn't understand how Las Vegas ever replicated the buildings and canals (especially in the last 2 photos). I love that last shot. I have only been to Las Vegas once (even though it is the top destination from Hawaii) and that was back in the early 80's before Venice and Paris were built.
