This past Sunday, Father Nicholas at St. John the Divine gave (as always) a very inspirational and uplifting sermon. I thought I'd share it with you. (It's an mp3 file).
After Every Crucifixion There Is A Resurrection, by Father Nicholas Louh, March 7th, 2010.
I hope you all are pitching your tents in the land of hope.

What a great metaphor! I'm pitching my tent there now. :)

I have emailed a reminder to myself to make sure I don't forget to listen to this - I always enjoy an inspirational and uplifting sermon! (Am at work right now, so not able to listen as fully as I want to.)

Very interesting, Candi! It can be hard to remember to live in hope.
I read an interview today in the Yew York Times magazine from Sunday, with Archbishop Desmond Tutu who said he tried to live in hope -- not optimism, which he dismissed as kind of light weight.
But, he said, "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." That really struck me.

Annie, this was King's David metaphor. I love it too.
Anne, lucky you, you can surf the web at work:)grin:
Sandra, I love the Archbishop's definition of hope. But wouldn't optimism lead to hope? Or is it that other way around? Either way, it is a very hard concept to live with, and to me, this is where the importance of being surrounded by good friends who support you and remind of the light at the end of the tunnel fully comes into play.
I am gonna google that article.
