Candi's Corner: Wanderlust and Passions

I’m an Arab American born to, and raised by, Palestinian parents. I am married to my wonderful husband, Bill, since June 2008. Our life revolves around traveling; we do a lot of moving around for a living. We are both travel hospital lab technologists, who do 3-6 month contracts in different parts of the country, and we love it. One day, we will settle down!

I have seen this meme in many blogs(before I even started blogging), actually stole it from Girasoli, mahalo girasoli. I thought since I am a new blogger, and joined the Slow travel bloggers in their pact to blog everyday in February, they won't mind seeing this meme still circulating.

I don't think so, I know my dad picked out my name though.

Wednesday watching Slumdomg Millionaire.

Not at all. I can't even read it most times.

Not yet.

5. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
I sure like to think so.

6. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
A lot maybe not, but I do use it.

7. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
Yup.

8. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
Never. Why would I?

9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?
Honey bunches of oats with strawberries, and Cocoa puffs.

10. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?
Sometimes. Most of the time just slip them off.

11. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?
I think so.

This meme was suggested by Annie as an idea for blogging everyday in February, and since I am stumped, I will use it. Few bloggers have already done it,so I will follow in their footsteps.

One book that changed your life

I am not sure that I have read the book that would change my life yet. Many books I read have opened my eyes to things I did not know existed, or did not know much about, but changed my life, this is a tough one. Ageless Face, Ageless Mind ,by Nicholas Perricone , made me change some of my eating and cooking habits.

This is stolen from so many people, but I believe I first saw this on girasoli's blog.

I stole this idea from Jan. It looked like a good post for when I am on the road and unable to blog. So, when you get this, I will be on the plane, an early(yikes) flight from Portland to Lake City, SC for the weekend to visit my parents.

So, here it goes, twenty five random things about me:

1-I am the oldest among my siblings( two brothers and one sister).
2-I lived in Bethlehem, Palestine for a good portion of my childhood and teens.
3-I can speak, read and write Arabic.
4-All the moving above has left me with a funny accent.
5-I took German in school, and have been to different parts of Germany with organized school trips to practice the language. I don't think I remember much any more.

Girasoli did this entry in her blog about things she likes that start with the letter G. And she offered letters to other slow travel bloggers, who did a great job with the letters they were assigned.

The letter Girasoli assigned me is S. At first I thought I will have hard time coming up with ten things I love that start with S, but once I put my thinking cap on, ideas just started flowing, so here we go:

This is just a bit of ramble that for some reason, came out as an idea for my blog entry today.

I talk with a funny accent. A question I am always asked :"Where are you from". And I always have to give a complicated answer.

Okay, I am planning on doing some posts from childhood in the old country as my dad refers to it, but these need to wait for my days off. For today, I am stealing this meme from Kim. ( Thanks Kim)

1. Do you like blue cheese? Oh Yes. Any cheese!

2. Have you ever smoked? Sadly to admit it, yes when I was in college for about 4 months, until my Asthma was getting really bad, and had to quit. I guess I was trying to be cool.

3 . Do you own a gun? No, and I don't want one.

4. What flavor Kool Aid was your favorite? Didn't drink much Kool Aid, my mom had us drinking home made lemonade. But I liked the red one(fruit punch?)

5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? Not really.

We just got back from watching the movie Earth, which is magnificent, by the way, I highly recommend it, and right now, I am just a little "high" on nature's beauty. I've always liked nature, and I am always amazed by its wonders.From mountains, to oceans, to rivers, to the seasons, to the different creatures that inhabit the earth, our planet is filled with amazing mysteries.

The cycle of life, the struggle for existence, the harmony that highlights the planet diversity,the fact that the we are oh so small compared to it all, are just examples of the many things that fascinate me about nature.

For the seven things I like , I am going to talk about some of the nature wonders that I have experienced,oh where do I start?I think I will just post some photos, and let them speak for me.
