PHOTO HUNTER - "HAT"

hat.JPG

This week's theme for PhotoHunter is "hat". I decided to show a photo of my husband wearing a hat that he bought in a small native village in SW Alaska. The name of the village is Tuntutuliak, an Eskimo village where the main language is Yup'ik. In the Yup'ik language, Tuntutuliak means "the land of many caribou". The hat is made of beaver and ringed seal. It is very warm. He doesn't wear it out much, but it sure keeps him warm when he does.

I could use a hat like that right now.

Brrrr

You can keep your arctic air up there, you really can. *smile*

If I lived in Alaska, I would be wearing that hat every day. Interesting background on the hat/eskimo village.

That's an interesting looking hat. It does look like it does the job at keeping one's head warm.
