Carn Euny

This is the remains of an Iron Age village. We had visited on our first trip to Cornwall in 2006 and enjoyed it enough to make it one of our few repeats this time. There are sites of stone houses built in the first century BCE and it was in use until near the end of the Roman period.
Carn Euny is particularly impressive because of its 'fogue' or underground passage. Exotic uses have been suggested but it may have been for as prosaic a purpose as for storage! Even so, it's remarkably atmospheric.
Our cross collie, Jezebel, enjoyed leaping across the old sites and followed me through the fogue. Her visit was enhanced by the presence of an Old English Sheepdog puppy, Biggles.
