Three Days Before Christmas

The store was PACKED today. People so thick I needed a trail of bread crumbs to make my way from my office to the front registers.

There's a $10.00 coupon for B&N members for whole cheesecakes. The Cafe ran out of Pumpkin Cheesecakes! That is evidently a capital offense.

There was a run on Chuck Klosterman books. It appears that there are a lot of people in St. Louis who think "Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs" is an ideal Christmas gift.

Every third person at customer service wanted "Twilight". Our booksellers finally just put a pile of them on the floor and handed them out.

I'm happy to be home, busy baking my 10 dozen or so chocolate dipped macaroons. A tradition started a few years ago that I am now beginning to regret.

What the heck am I supposed to do with 40 egg yolks!?!

Make ice cream!

Deborah responds: Amy, that would be a heck of a lot of ice cream!

Deborah, it was really interesting reading this post. I never thought about what it is like to work in a bookstore during the holiday season.

Ah yes, my 12 yr old daughter is enthralled with the Twilight series! On the other hand, my 18 yr old finds them offensive in that she sees the main relationship as bordering on abusive, rather than romantic. She made sure to have a chat with her sibling to make sure little sis didn't get any skewed ideas about what is acceptable in a real life romantic relationship. (I was quite touched by her concern for her younger sister's emotional well being!)

Oh and is there ever really such a thing as too much ice cream?! :)

Deborah responds:
Good for your 18 year old! I'm a bit non-plused with the whole vampire craze anyway.

Pastitsio with ice cream for dessert?
