A scary reminder just crept into my consciousness today, this evening to be exact. This occured to me while I attended the Stations of the Cross service at church this evening. I got home after the service and turned on my computer. (What else does one do when they get home anyway?) A dear friend sent me an email that he thought of me today because of the significance of the day.
He remembered! Dear man, that Phil Bold is! The best, actually! A year ago, I underwent surgery for colon cancer at Stanford Hospital that was diagnosed a few days earlier, February 8th, 2007!! I remembered how scared I was and placed my entire future in God's hands. Really, was there any other options? I remembered going to the surgical center scared as heck. My daughter, my sister, and my former secretary came with me for moral support. How lucky I am to have such supportive circle of family and friends. All is well that ends well right? So, all is well and here I am.... blogging away!
I remembered, a few days prior to the diagnosis, how crummy I felt. I had to bow out of what was going to be my first Slow Travel event - the first annual Slow Bowl. (I am glad to have been able to attend the 2nd one - this year!)
In any case, the dreaded C-word is in the past... I am looking ahead and looking into a better and hopefully a much healthier 2008! One thing about having undergone that - I realized how many great friends and support I have! I am so blessed!
