Scholarly Pursuits

I do not know why I do these things... A few years back, maybe four years I decided to take on more schooling and enrolled in a doctoral program. So, I have completed all the courses and dissertation time follows! I am crazy! Certifiably crazy!

I do not need a doctoral degree to teach kindergarten.... try telling a crazy woman that!

I was supposed to be writing last year, I did my first chapter ... when I got side tracked by colon cancer. Now I am well and can't use the "cancer-card" for my procrastination. I should have quit when a professor told me that my writing had a "voice" but did not seem scholarly to her! That was four years ago, but getting As inspired me to go for more... CRAZY!

I should have quit then before I poured so much money into the program...

I could have purchased cases and cases of wine, heck ... built a wine cellar too! I could have taken sooooooooo mannyyyyyyyyyy trips instead! :)

Anne:

Oh wow, I definitely take my hat off to you. That is an awesome achievement!! Good luck with the dissertation - and keep us posted on its progress.

Eden:

Thank you, Anne!

I do not know what I was thinking when I jumped head-on into this venture. I will blog my scholarly trials and tribulations for sure. It is going to be full of challenges as English is not even my native language and I am trying to write a humongous (sp?) paper.

sandrac:

Eden, you must be very ambitious, I admire you taking on such a challenge!

BTW, I've fallen a bit behind on my blog reading and this is the first time I've seen your sidebar photo. It looks great! You look so happy with your grandson.

Kim:

You should talk to Amy, she's in a similar situation. Good luck; I know how hard it is to get focused on something, especially when you've procrastinated for a long time (can you say my London trip report?)

Eden:

Thank you, Sandra. I did not know how much I'd enjoy grandparenting... I love it!!!

Eden:

Kim, I can focus on reading ST blogs and travel reports ... but not on serious writing... LOL... so I will be reading your London trip report when it gets published on ST! :)

Chiming in to wish you all the best with the dissertation. I admire your determination. In bocca al lupo!

Barb Cabot:

Eden, You are really someone to be admired for tackling this amazing challenge. The writing will come and go but none of this will be wasted energy. We will have to really celebrate when you file that thesis! I do tip my hat to you as well.

Amy:

Good for you! Yeah, my advisor said the "D" word, and I told her I needed to go home and lie down with a cool cloth over my face. Heh. I still need to write my Master's thesis!
