Staycation #1
With the soaring prices of everything, esp. airfare, I decided to stay close to home this summer and have a "Staycation".
Not necessarily staying home but stay in California.
So for July the July 4th weekend, my family and I went to Southern California and vacationed at the La Costa Resort. My sister and her family have been doing this for a few years - July 4th at La Costa, so we decided to jump on the bandwagon. Here is my grandbaby Mikey with my daughter, his Auntie Tracey enjoying the pool at the resort.
It was not as I expected it to be. Maybe I had very high expectations because to me one time at La Costa is ENOUGH. Not going back anytime soon. (I will be writing a hotel review on this.)
There were highlights of this trip though.
Highlights:
1. I got to spend lots of time with the grandchildren. I also had some great visit / driving time with my daughter, whose company I enjoy all the time.
2. We visited and enjoyed Legoland! One visit is not enough, so we will be back. Here is a picture of the group. Wonder how my son felt with all the women in the group.
Izzy earned his LegoLand Driver's License after this test drive. Some serious driver here. :)
Baby Mikey thinks Duplo Bricks are fun.
3, I got to visit with my good friend, AnnieK. She moved to Carlsbad a couple of years ago. It certainly was a treat to see her and spend some time in her beautiful new home. We got to enjoy July 4th fireworks from her neighboorhood viewing area. She did not want her picture taken so here is a picture of a cool dude in So. Cal. (even with some off set shades)

It was so much fun to have you spend a night of your stayvacation with me. It was great sharing wine and giggles since we don't get to do that so often anymore. The highlight was getting to meet your grandchildren. Baby Mikey is cute as they come!
