A day at the beach - Still on Staycation

Today, the Staycation continues. We headed for the beach. Inspired by Barb Cabot's eloquently written post about beach memories, we headed for the beach today... towards Half Moon Bay.

It is nice to travel the usually busy Bay Area freeways in the middle of the day on Monday. There was no traffic so we made it to the beach in good time. We stopped at the San Gregorio beach where Izzy loved playing in the sand...

Baby Mikey was not too sure about sand underfoot and all over him. Even with crocs on, he was not liking the sand all over his toes.

He (Baby Mikey) would rather not walk around so he spent most of his time sitting and sometimes standing on the mat with Mom watching his big brother and probably wondering what the big deal was about this beach thing. :)

We stopped at the bakery in Pescadero and picked up some Artichoke, garlic and herb bread. Yummy!

P.S. Funny thing about this Bay Area micro climate... it was sunny and warm in Fremont yet, overcast and a bit cold on the coast... It just seems funny to me to be playing in the sand and wearing a sweatshirt. Some were even wearing coats there today... That is the island girl in me, I guess.

I didn't realize people swam in the Pacific until after my high school days in Daly City. Every time we'd go to beach, it was typically cloudy/ foggy/ cool, and we just hung out for a couple of hours.

Now having enjoyed Maui with Palma, I get the attraction of a Pacific Ocean beach.

And Pescadero... well, THAT was the start of something big. Thanks for the memories, Eden.

Eden:

While in Pescadero, I thought of you and Palma and of course AnnieK and Mr. Z... those were the days. I wanted to stop at Duarte's but the kids were so tired and would have made a scene at the restaurant.

AnnieK:

Oh yeah.......Pescadero!! When I read that word my first thought was of that beach party so many years ago. Although there was a huge bonfire that night, I think the biggest sparks were between Brad and Palma! Great memories.
