Grow Where You Can

This past weekend I took some friends to the Monterey Peninsula and we visited the Carmel Mission. I am somewhat of a mission nut, so I was in my element here. We looked in and around the mission.

The place is surrounded by beautiful gardens. My friends were all over the gorgeous flowers. I do not have picture of them all over the flora but here we are goofing off in front of the gardens... Nothing like old ladies acting silly... embarrassing!

Quirky that I am, I was more enthralled by this California Poppy that grew on a crack on the cement steps. No dirt there. It was somewhat of a mountain top moment for me to realize that living things try their best to thrive wherever and however they can.

I am going to be like this California Poppy.

sandrac:

Beautiful photos, Eden! And a beautiful philosophy.

Too often, I waste time, waiting for conditions to be "just right" before starting something (or finishing something!) But conditions are rarely "just right" and I've waste all that time waiting!

I think I'll try to follow your lead and make the most of whatever conditions I find myself in!

Eden:

Thank you, Sandra.

There never is a perfect time or condition to do anything... so AnnieK and I are planning a 2009 summer trip to Italy (1st for me) even in hard economic conditions... :)
