Homesick for Samboan

I am pretty content with life and really happy about being a transplant from the Philippines to California.

Then one of my cousins sent me a series of pictures she took of my hometown. Homesickness sat in! I miss Samboan, Cebu. It is in the middle part of the Phillipines; about an hour by plane from Manila. It is where I was born and where I spent my elementary school days. It is a pretty peaceful place... everyone seems to be related to me... and can potentially know everything about me...Inspite of that, or inspite of it being small and confining, it has some awesome assets... like this sunset...

or this... a sunset swim with friends and family... nevermind that the clouds look ominous :)

or just taking in its peaceful surrounds or doing a simple contemplation...

I wish I were there. Maybe I will retire there someday.

Eden, what a gorgeous place, and so peaceful sounding!! No wonder you miss it. A work friend of mine is from the Philippines. He was transplanted to Canada as a toddler but has visited family as an adult and also says it is an amazing country.

WOW! It sure does look and feel nostalgic to me....recreating happy memories from my childhood years...especially when you put words and pictures together! Thanks again!

Kim:

Those are beautiful pictures. I remember that homesickness - I love the feeling, the connection of going out, and running into people you know.

sandrac:

Such beautiful photos - I can understand why you would be feeling homesick!

I know you missed, Samboan. I was just there, March 2008 and always pass by Samboan whenever i visit my father's hometown, Ginatilan. Ingon pa ni Papa kana konong Samboan and Ginatilan in the past, partners kono sa fiesta. One time, i was invited by Carmencita Briones for pamiesta so I went and enjoyed kaayo sa eats. Well, if you plan to go and visit, kuyog unya ko, hopefully, maayo ang atong lawas gihapon. Let me know, unya, ha?
