Today is my birthday. I celebrate my birthdays with simple things and relish each of them - esp. after surviving cancer.
The celebration started last Friday when the parents and students surprised me with a PARTY!. The principal was in on the surprise. She called me in to her office in the middle of class. I worried about leaving 20 5 - 6-year olds with one parent helper. So I insisted that we (principal and I) talk later about whatever was so urgent. She walked with me back to my classroom to find the window shutters closed. Thats when I suspected something. :)
Here is my class with the principal (standing) and I am reading the birthday book the students made me.
I also received a gift certificate for a SPA day, and other gift cards from the parents, and various gifts and more gift cards from colleagues and other students!
My birthday (cup)cake. Cute, huh?
The celebration continues. I am declaring a birthday month. It's a short one, afterall. :)

Dear Eden, Happy Happy Birthday. This touches me so much. It speaks volumes about how loved you are by so many. Having taught Kindergarten before and having had children be part of a birthday celebration, I know how touching this must have been for you. You deserve all this affection and love Eden. You are a very special person, so giving and generous of spirit. May you celebrate your wonderfulness all month long. Yay for you!

Ahhh, how did I miss your special day?! Belated Happy Birthday, Eden! I see a "gift of Italy" in your pile ♥ Oh wait, if it's your birthday month, then I'm not late at all, am I?!
