Greg Mortenson, the author of Three Cups of Tea is visiting Fremont. He is coming on March 3rd. My class has been invited to meet him. We are so honored as they picked us - a very few of us - out of the 35,000 student population in our district!

My class particpated in a penny drive to help his Pennies for Peace Project. We did the penny collection in November. In three weeks the children at my school site collected over $800 in pennies! The district surpassed our goal of collecting $20 thousand as we collected over $28,000. We are helping him build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
To prepare my students (even more) for his visit, I purchased his children's book Listen To the Wind, The Story of Dr. Greg & Three Cups Of Tea. We will be reading this before his visit. I hope he autographs my copy of the book.
I am excited and will surely document this event when we go to meet him!

How exciting! I loved "Three Cups of Tea" but didn't know he had a children's book too. I need to get that for my nephews.
Can't wait to read about this event!

That is so exciting. I also didn't know he had a children's book. That will be so fun for them to meet him after they've read his book. Congratulations for being one of the chosen few for him to visit.

Eden - what a great opportunity for both you and your students. And what an honor to have been chosen - your students learned a valuable lesson about sharing and giving, through the penny drive.
And thanks for posting about his children's book - I loved "Three Cups of Tea", and will get the children's story for my granddaughter!
I look forward to your report of the visit.

How blessed you are to meet him...we read his book in my book club and also in the Slowtrav CRC book club and loved it. My local book club sent a cash donation to his CAI in Bozeman, MT. Instead of giving each other gifts at Christmas, we sent the money to him!

Amazon has his book available. I am hoping he will autograph both my books... Three Cups... and the children's book.
I am looking forward to meeting him.
