Every now and then, I get a phone call that someone is coming to visit (me in) the Bay Area. (Only because I happen to live here, but they really just want to visit S F. :) ) This past weekend a former high school friend was passing through on her way back to the Phil. She and another former high school buddy, who now lives in Southern California, were both weekenders here . So I went played tourist with both of them.
At Fisherman's wharf, we saw crab, and all things seafood... and this:
He was happy to pose for me. :) He works for:
This one was making cute ones -
Which eventually became -
But they are so cute, one would not want to take a bite out of them!
Here are my friends taking their daily bread... well, at least for the days of the weekend.
... so many choices, it's hard to pick just one... but if there's one with chocolate -
I did pick one to share and munch as we strolled.... Here's what's left of mine.
Ahhhhhh, the joys only bread / carbs can bring ...

Eden, wonderful photos. It does make me envious of your having SF in your "backyard". There is something so special about the bay area and the quality of things like the Boudin bakery. San Francisco is in a league of it's own.

Sourdough bread is the best. I love those alligators and turtles! Looks like a great day of playing tourist.

There's not much I miss about the SF Bay Area, but Boudin bread readily available is certainly at or near the top of my list. My mouth watered looking at your photos... this carboholic's dream. Great post.

We were amazed at the different types of loaves they were making when we were last at the warf. That is a talent!

This bread looks SO good! The little animals are so adorable-I've never seen those before. I don't get to San Francisco often, but I'd like to try to visit there when I do get there next. Looks fun!

Boudin's is one of our favorite places in the whole wide world, and even though you can now get in many other bay area places, that bakery/shop on the wharf is the only one that really does it for me. And the little animals are too wonderful.

I’m a breadaholic and drooled all over the keyboard looking at your pictures. I love the bread at Boudin’s! And San Francisco is my favorite city in the whole USA.
