How can I be this late? This is still on my 2nd evening after arriving in Cebu. Seems so long ago as I am now continuing my (mis)adventures in Hongkong... not really misadventures. I am loving everything about this trip! So here is another installment.
An evening with relatives at Siam…

Today’s highlight was about meeting the cousins, nieces, and nephews for dinner at a Thai restaurant, Siam. The restaurant is owned by one of our cousins. (Did I say I have cousins all over in this island?)
The food delicious, the company WONDERFUL! I am so grateful for a great family. There were lots of laughter. I am so happy to have this get together. Thanks to Arleen, Lyla, and Lani for coordinating the “reunion”. There was a gathering of about 30, great turnout for getting relatives together the day after we arrive. My cousin Arleen is a pastry chef, Cordon Blue grad, made these cakes for the occassion. How lucky can we be!
... and to celebrate summer birthdays!
Mama Inday, my mom, was such a trooper. She arrived at the appointed time and stayed and chatted with the best of them! Catching up with family took us well into the night. Even Mom stayed way after her bedtime!
The younger ones took Tracey club-hopping. Here is "clubbing group"...
Not sure where they went but they brought Tracey back to the hotel at around 4AM. Tracey loved spending the time with her cousins too. A repeat is in the plans.
Did I say, I love this family? I cannot say that enough!
I think there is 2 degrees of separation here for me. There are cousins all over, Balbuenas (my maiden name) are anywhere and everywhere. I’ve got it over Kevin Bacon. I have 2 degrees over his 6 degrees of separation. A walk around the Farmers’ Market and we get asked “Are you…?” child of? Grandchild of? Cousin of? And on and on…. I can easily run for office here and win!

At first when I saw the Siam sign, I thought you had taken off to Thailand but I got that straighten out by reading the caption of the photo. The food and cakes looks so yummy. Lucky you to have so much talent in the family!

Geesh!! You are having way too much fun!
Are you coming back in time to start school? Like Phil says, retired people don't have to worry about things like that.
Talk to you soon.

Eden, I have enjoyed reading
your posting so much. Happy I sat aside time to savor every thing. Reminded a lot of how when I went to Hawaii
with my late wife how everyone is family and wants to put you up and feed you.
