Wednesday, May 12 was the Day of the Teacher. Once again we had a rally against cuts in education. The attendance at these rallies seem to be getting smaller and smaller. I think my colleagues are resigned to the fact that we are getting additional paycuts next school year in addition to additional furlough days. I do not mind furlough days. If I do not work those days, then do not pay me... but do not cut my pay on top of that.
It was good to see community support. Some students were there, spoke in support of teachers. In the picture is my union president.
I got interviewed by the Filipno TV station ABS CBN. My union president told them about me. I learned that I am the only Filipino teacher they know... Sad... and funny too. Actually there are probably 3 more in the district where there are over a thousand teachers are employed.
After the interview, I talked to the reporter at some length and we found out that we have a mutual friend! Small world!
Now I just need to find out what channel ABS CBN is on. :)

I understand your frustration with what is going on with the education system. We need help!
