Late last month, my school participated in the Great California ShakeOut.
I was worried that my class would be freaking out by this long and elaborate drill...
The siren sounded, we "Ducked and Covered" and started leaving the classroom to the designated evacuation area. We stayed in the area for about 45 minutes while the drill continued, Search and Rescue team did what they were supposed to do, etc.

My students waited paitently, stayed in their lines.

The older students, good role models for the little ones - NOT! were throwing sticks at each other, talking, laughing out loud, etc... and whatever older, cooler kids do during the drill...

Ok, I am bragging .. The kindergarteners were the best hehaved in the group of 500 + ! Proud, you bet. :)
