Oh my gosh! I had all these intentions of blogging daily re. my Spring Break trip to Paris.... but life gets in the way.... and overcame by laziness... but ... here is my attempt to continue.
After a short lunch at Delmas, we got together with the group and off we went to Versailles. It's a much shorter drive than I remember... was there a few years back.
When we got to Versailles, we were given a "self-tour headphone thingie". It came with a verbal warning that we must return the entire package in good condition. It will cost $150. to replace it! Seriously?
We then entered the gates only to encounter this -

Yes, long lines to go and see how Marie Antoinette and her posse lived years ago! At least the lines are moving. And we are in!
I turned on the self-tour thingie that I was given. Might as well use it.... It said to start at the chapel. Floor 2. Ok, I walked up to this. I see the chapel. Do I need to go up? Who knows? This must be floor 2... When and where was Floor 1?

I am still amazed at the ceilings. Artwork! How does one do that? Scaffolding? And still have the perspectives when one is looking and working at one's work laying down from a scaffolding? Amazing.

We walked through the rooms and marveled at the opulence. How can a select number - few people have so much back then?
Hall of mirrors! I am one who is not that concerned with looking at myself. I wondered how one can stand to have those many mirrors! And back in the time too when people could not even afford a little mirror, let alone full length ones to marvel at oneself!

The gardens! Another story. Beautiful.

My feet were aching from the walk. Tracey and Katrina, young brave souls that they are walked the gardens that seemed endless.
I sat at the steps facing the fountains, listening to the music that the waters danced to. It's a good life!

The girls came back to tell me stories of their find. Dancing waters way back there... " Las Vegas Bellagio, only much better" :)
After a full day, we head back to the hotel. Dinner this evening was with the group. We are headed to the Saint Germaine area. And an evening cruise on the Seine.
Did I say life is good?
