screamy memey!

I saw this meme on Valerie’s blog, 2 Baci in a Pinon Tree. Valerie was tagged by Rob. Check out his blog Wind Rose Hotel when you get the chance. Instead of tagging anyone, Valerie opened it up for all to play along. Here goes…

1. Last movie you saw in a theater?
I have not been to the movies in ages but plan to go see Sex & the City as soon as work gets out (3 1/2 more days!!).

2. What book are you reading?
I just finished reading Playing for Pizza. This book is about American football in Parma, Italy. I enjoyed the book up to until the last couple of chapters, when it seemed to me that the author, John Grisham, decided he had enough of the book and just sort of ended everything abruptly. I enjoyed his other book, The Broker, which was set in Bologna, Italy a lot more.

3. Favorite board game?
I love board games...a few of my favorites are: Yahtzee, Risk, Scattegories, Clue, and if I am in the mood - Monopoly.

4. Favorite magazine?
I’m not really much of a magazine reader, although I do enjoy catching up on all the gossip at my dentist office twice a year while waiting to be called.

5. Favorite smells?
Coffee, fruit smells, rain.

6. Favorite sounds?
The sounds of baseball…the sounds of the crowd, the cheers and boos and the singing, the people selling food and drinks - "hot dogs, get your hot dogs" and "beer here", the sound of the ball hitting the bat, and I loved hearing Sherm Feller's voice at Fenway, as he announced each new batter.

7. Worst feeling in the world?
When someone you love is ill.

8. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up?
On a workday – "just give me 10 more minutes before I have to get up", which can turn into 20 minutes, 30 minutes...
On a weekend (waking up much later) – "I have the whole day ahead of me".

9. Favorite fast food place?
I am really not a fast food fan.

10. Future child’s name?
Pretty doubtful that there will be a future child for me at this point in my life…
I have had all sorts of interesting names of students in my class however, including an Ocean and a Prince.

11. Finish this statement. “If I had lots of money I’d….?
Retire, buy Red Sox season tickets, make sure family members are set, get a little house, lots of travel, and donate to help others in need.

12. Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?
Nope, but according to my family's home movie collection, I had a Bullwinkle when I was little.

13. Storms - cool or scary?
Scary! I freak out during thunder & lightening storms.

14. Favorite drink?
Water.

15. Finish this statement, “If I had the time I would….”?
Organize my photos according to towns/regions I have visited in Italy to make a book.

16. Do you eat the stems on broccoli?
Yes, although broccoli is not one of my preferred vegetables.

17. If you could dye your hair any color, what would be your choice?
Brown (just as I have been for years now, although the sun keeps lightening it).

18. Name all the different cities/towns you’ve lived in?
If I have counted correctly... I have lived in 8 cities/towns in 4 states.

19. Favorite sports to watch?
Baseball. I also enjoy gymnastics.

20. One nice thing about the person who sent this to you?
Valerie is a wonderful writer. I enjoy reading her blog and look forward to her stories posted on Slow Travel.

21. What’s under your bed?
Dust, a tent I haven’t used in ages, a sleeping pad to go with the tent, a few boxes, and a suitcase.

22. Would you like to be born as yourself again?
This is a tough one. Probably, but there are definitely a few things I would do differently next time.

23. Morning person, or night owl?
Night owl, no question on this one.

24. Over easy, or sunny side up?
Over easy.

25. Favorite place to relax?
On a boat or on a beach.

26. Favorite pie?
Pecan pie.

27. Favorite ice cream flavor?
The same as Valeria…gelato gelato gelato.
I love pesca (peach), passion fruit, real pistachio (not that green food color version pistachio), coconut (although I am very picky about my coconut also), hazelnut, coffee.

28. Of all the people you tagged this to, who’s most likely to respond first?
No tagging here but anyone who would like is welcome to “give it a go” (my favorite Australian expression).

*Edited: I was originally using the same title that Valerie used because I was not able to find the original source for this meme. After Rob sent me the link to his responses to this meme, I was able to search back through a few more tagged blogs and it appears that the title of this meme is "Random Meme". Now how boring is that. Hopefully Valerie won't mind me using her title. It is much more fun than Random Meme.

Nice answers, but I’m bound to say that, as for your favourite drink, your choice doesn’t seem to be very “biblical” … ;-)
“Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities” (1 Timothy 5:23)

Greetings from Italy.

Hi Rob, thanks for stopping by. I tried but could not find your meme post. Can't help it, just love my water.

Hi Girasoli,

It was a pleasure, and I'll be back again. My meme post is http://windrosehotel.blogspot.com/2008/05/oh-meme.html
Ciao.
Rob

Anne:

Very nice - love the magazine answer - I'm sure you get through a whole bunch of magazines during those waiting periods! Water is my favourite drink too, in fact if I don't start off my day with a big glass of it, I go around feeling parched the entire day.

sandrac:

Very interesting, I love all the baseball references! There is something timeless about the sounds and the sights of the game, probably they haven't changed all that much from when you were a kid. I'm a bit taken aback by the kids names: Ocean and Prince. That'll inspire confidence if they become, say, lawyers or accountants. Mind you, I know a woman whose son insisted his daughter be named Coyote. He apparently didn't realize that coyote are less a symbol of the wilderness and considered more of a pest!

You should publish your photos in book form, and Shave Ice and Gelato would be a pretty catchy title!

Anne, my dentist is the best for all the good gossip (but not too over the top) magazines. I sometimes get there a little early just to catch up :-)

Sandra, I didn't even think of how their names would affect them when they grow up! The strangest names ever (kids I didn't teach directly but heard about) are "Bingo" and "Bongo" (twins). Just imagine going through life with those names. I am not sure which would be worse? Thanks for the encouragement regarding a book. I hadn't even thought of the name before. Good idea.
