I am alive and well but also overwhelmed and exhausted with the beginning of a new school year. This is not a unique year. It happens to me every year. I have not been able to keep up with any blogs except for a peek here and there. With the Olympics starting (which I am really looking forward to watching), I probably will only have time for two maybe three posts a week (mostly on the weekends) for the next couple of weeks. After that, life should return to normal.

I can't believe you are already back to school. Seems like time is just flying by....
Enjoy the Olympics and a blog break!

Hope the Beginning-of-the-Year madness dies down soon for you!

It's good to hear from you, Girasoli -- I was beginning to worry! Hope your eyes have calmed down and back-to-school isn't too hectic!

Most of the school districts in the Phoenix metro area have implemented a year-round calendar, so the new school year usually starts the last week in July.
Have fun watching the Olympics!

I actually missed 3 school days (first time in 25 years missing the first day of school!) and I missed 3 meeting days due to a highly contagious viral infection in my eye (pink eye). My eye doctor told me I absolutely could not go to work. So, I started on the 4th day of school and was more behind than usual since I missed so much. I am always stressed and tired the first couple of weeks and the last couple of weeks of every school year though.
We also have year round here (started I think back in 1999 at my school). There is talk though that we may get 2 more weeks off in the summer next year. I am not sure if it was decided yet (something I missed during a meeting and I keep forgetting to ask about). We will still work the same number of days, the winter and spring vacations will just be shortened if we get 2 more weeks back in the summer. Most teachers I know like the longer vacations during the year, but I like the longer summer. That means more time in Italy IF the dollar ever gets stronger.
I want to thank everyone for being so wonderful. I feel so fortunate to have made so many blogging friends. It is such an amazing thing to get to know everyone so well through the computer! Thank you for caring and being so supportive and always stopping by my blog.
Oh, and my eye is much better now. Thanks!!

I somehow missed reading the part about the pink eye. I'm happy to hear that you're better.
