When I saw the theme vertical, towers were the first thing that came to my mind.
A different view of the Torre Guinigi in Lucca.
Can you spot the tower hiding behind the vertical bamboo? (also taken in Lucca)
Here's that tower, one of many in Lucca in addition to the two you can climb.
And for something different...
Vertical red sticks - They were from the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics (not sure of the significance). I saw these sticks all around the city.

Great angle on the first photo. I like the almost hidden one too. Wondering what the red verticals signify....

Love the angle on the first tower, almost missed the 2nd one, til I read what you wrote. The red sticks are great, really add a lot of color to the town. Really great choices for this week! Hope your are having a nice weekend!

Hi Girasoli, I love all of your photos. The one with the tower in the background behind those wonderfully tall trees is cool. The red sticks is cool too and interesting that it was all over Torino.

Fun pictures especially the red sticks. I really liked the Torre - nice picture. We had to climb to the top. That stairways is a little scary.
