These are my tap shoes. At least, they are the pair I was able to find after a few years of never having them on my feet. Tonight I am coming, oh so briefly, out of retirement, to dance for my dear friend Cecelia's birthday. This is a mixed media performance--my short dance will be bookended by readings by Cecelia's husband and another great friend. I am going to dance to Paul Simon's "Hobo's Blues" a nice short, instrumental with a great swing to it.
I practiced for about 20 minutes this afternoon and I really suck but I don't think most people will know. Smiling helps; I remember. And I have to remember that this is a gift, for Cecelia, a friend I really love.

Wow Jan! This is news to me. That is so awesome that you tap. And what a great party this must have been for your friend. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall. I'm sure you wowed the audience and made your friend so happy.

I was there and lucky to get to see Jan dance again. Of course you all know that she was wonderful! Thanks for breaking out the shoes again, Jan. Don't make us wait so long for the next time.
